Seasonal Allergies
Allergies are the reactions of the immune system that take place within certain individuals. When the body first makes contact with an allergen individual it doesn’t react immediately but tries to fight it off by creating an antibody. The primary causes of the allergic reaction are due to excessive regular consumption (for food allergies) of a limited number of foods (hidden artificial ingredients etc.). In some cases, the reason for food allergies can be found related to the earlier introduction of solid food for infants or some digestive disorders.
There is a great misunderstanding that allergies are caused by allergens. In reality, they are caused by an unusual reaction of our body's weak immune system to things that are usually not harmful to a healthy body. Some of these things can include things like various allergens such as pollen, dust, and several more. In an effort to defend the body from that allergen, the immune system produces IgE antibodies called Histamine. The histamine then acts on a person's eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, or gastrointestinal tract and causes the symptoms of the allergic reaction. Future exposure to that same allergen will activate this antibody response again. This means that every time you come into contact with that allergen, you'll have an allergic reaction. Therefore, just treating symptoms or avoiding the allergen will only give temporary relief of symptoms, and so, the permanent cure would be to strengthen the body's immune and defense system.
There is no good way to tell the difference between allergy symptoms of runny nose, coughing, and sneezing and cold symptoms. Allergy symptoms, however, may last longer than cold symptoms.
Types of Allergies
There are 3 major categories of allergies
1.Respiratory tract and throat allergies – rhinitis, allergic asthma , allergic tonsillitis
2.Skin allergies – Urticaria, hives, eczema, atopic dermatitis
3.GI tract allergies - Food intolerances
ESSENTIAL OILS FOR ALLERGIC REACTIONS
Frankincense and Lavender Oils
Frankincense and lavender oils are a great fragrant oil combination for reducing asthma symptoms. Frankincense oil is good for reducing inflammation while Lavender oil helps relieve the stress and anxiety that can lead to or exacerbate an asthma attack. It also helps reduce the body’s production of mucus.
Like the other oils, they should be massaged onto the chest, and/or boiled in water and inhaled.
Tea Tree Oil
This can be applied by the way described above or by dipping a face cloth in warm water and adding drops of tea tree oil. Lie back and place the face cloth over your face, inhaling the fumes, until it has cooled to room temperature.
Tea tree oil is a natural expectorant, decongestant, anti-inflammatory and microbial. It will relieve wheezing and coughing and reduce inflammation and excess mucus.
